About Us
Little is known about Tyn Y Berth. We do know that it was built as a school in the late 1800’s. Between it closing and Lewisham Council purchasing the property there doesn’t seem to be any documented use. After Lewisham Council decided they no longer could afford to maintain the property it was sold to Wide Horizons, a private charity who used it as a residential mountain centre for school children in London.
Gareth, Doug and Lydia purchased the property in 2024 and lovingly modernised and updated features whilst still being sympathetic to its original use.
The class picture from below is the only known picture from the days of it being a school. We think this photo is from around 1894/1895.
